I Want Candy!

We made some homeade candy today, the kind you melt the wafers and put in the molds and can make candy or pops. We always did that when we were little. So we went to the craft store the other day and got all the stuff to start and we can make sweet treats every season! We started out making some letters and made a birthday plate for the party tomorrow! They would even be cute on cupcakes! They came out so cute! Mom and Papa came by for a visit when we were outside and we went for a nice walk, it was cool out and we gathered yet more leaves! My neighbors must love that we are cleaning the streets of all the leaves everywhere! They love walking around the neighborhood, they hold hands tightly and it's so sweet!

Yesterday we made a double batch of chocolate chocolate chip brownies, yum! Then Mia helped me make a honey and brown sugar ham and honey/brown sugar carrots and cornbread. We didn't do any workbooks this week but have been doing baking and art projects every day and doing lots of reading. I love watching them play and hearing her use her imagination, I love when kids use what they have and are content enough to just imagine and not limit their minds. We stayed home today since we have another busy weekend ahead. It was a nice morning, our windows are open and it feels so good to catch a cool breeze. We had oatmeal for breakfast and I'm going to give them soup for dinner tonight. I will wait for Colin to come home so we can eat together a quiet dinner and catch up. He has been at the church every night this week, and a few other places after work too, he is working so hard and does it all with a smile on his face even if it's a tired one. We sit on the couch and just relax together, and talk about our days. Even if it's only for 45 min, it's still good to grab time when you can to stay connected. We ( the kids and I )have a good schedule though and when he's got long weeks we adjust and keep busy. He always calls at 7 to say goodnight to them. :) So I have some things to take care of around here, thanks for checkin in! xo Have a safe, happy weekend! xo

What a cute birthday plate! My mom used to make chocolates with my sisters and I around Christmas every year and I have such warm memories of it! There's something very special about seasonal foods that become a family tradition. For us, fall calls for apple crisp, pumpkin pie, and butternut squash soup. Mmmmm! Delicious!
